About Taxpayer Protection Amendment:

QUESTION: What is the TPA?

ANSWER: The TPA is a constitutional amendment to control local government spending. It limits local government spending to the base year plus inflation and population growth.

Government can exceed that limit only with voter approval. The TPA can be overridden in one calendar year if a State of Emergency is declared in Florida (e.g., we have a hurricane).

QUESTION: Will the TPA replace Save Our Homes?

ANSWER: No. The TPA will supplement Save Our Homes.

QUESTION: Who designed the TPA?

ANSWER: The architect of the TPA was Dr. Barry Poulson who designed TABOR in Colorado. TABOR is a limit on government spending that was approved by Colorado voters and upheld by the voters this year. It works in Colorado, it can work in Florida.

QUESTION; What will the TPA do?

ANSWER: The TPA will force local governments to live on a budget. They will need to  prioritize spending and reduce waste.

QUESTION: Why should i support the TPA?

ANSWER: Without the TPA taxes will continue to increase to the point where our economy will collapse. Small businesses will close, new businesses will not come to Florida, and second homeowners will no longer come to Florida.

Without the TPA our economy will never fully recover.
